The Salt Lake Restoration and Rider Fund exists to keep vintage scooters rolling and the people who love them supported. We restore classic machines, build mechanical skill in our community, and maintain a fund to help local riders through hard times — so no one has to leave the road behind.
We acquire and restore vintage scooters, then sell them to fund our work and keep the craft alive.
Vintage scooters were built in an era before global parts distribution. As original stock disappears, individual riders are left chasing down suppliers, paying a premium on shipping and tariffs, and — worse — lacking the hands-on knowledge needed to restore and keep them running. The solution isn't just better access to parts — it's collective ownership of the supply chain itself.
A community-run purchasing cooperative pools the buying power of local riders to qualify for wholesale and dealer pricing that no individual could access alone. It also creates the foundation for something more valuable: member-driven reproduction of parts that simply no longer exist anywhere on the market.
One member, one vote. Patronage rebates on purchases. Democratic control over which parts get reproduced next. This is how a small community of scooter enthusiasts can build a supply chain that sustains our hobby and our community — for generations.
We believe this model is replicable. Other cities with active vintage scooter communities can adopt the same structure, and we're committed to documenting and sharing our process openly so they can.
The SLRRF is governed by a Board of Directors and operates according to formally adopted bylaws. Our bylaws cover membership, board composition and responsibilities, financial controls, the Rider Support Fund, and our annual surplus policy — including how we give back to the broader Salt Lake community.
